Stages of Business Growth
The topic of my current post would detail the product life-cycle for a company. The product life-cycle would be stages of business growth for a company with specific characteristics for each stage of business growth. The stages of business growth are introduction, growth, maturity, and the decline stage. The specific characteristics are product, goals, sales, profits, pricing, and marketing communication. Each characteristic would develop through each stage of business growth. I discovered a basic business concept through my education that a company’s objective would be to maintain costs at a minimum level. There would be cost drivers that exist for a company. Through costs marketing parameters exist. A start-up with efficient and effective business operations and market planning can build a successful competitive strategy. Also, a start-up with efficient and effective management practices within the company’s value chain can be utilized to build a successful competitive strategy. A competitor with market power drives market equilibrium in pricing dynamics. Each of the characteristics are determinants of market signals. A competitor introduces a new product or price shifts of market dynamics for a company. Examples of market characteristics for each stage follow these criteria. Within the introductory stage, an objective for a start-up would be customer acquisition. Acquire customers that will buy the company’s product. Within the growth stage, another example would be that competitors begin to enter the market. Another example would be that sales begin to increase. Within the maturity stage, another example would be that profit margins begin to narrow after a peak in sales. Within the decline stage, another example would be that an objective for a company would be to maintain profits and reduce market presence by reducing product diversification objectives. Reduce the number of products that would be determined to be of waste or a cost driver within a company’s value chain. Each characteristic has a purpose for a company. Here are a couple of web links I wanted to share:
